Make a good impression
You wouldn’t dress down to an interview, so don’t dress down at The Graduate Event. Think of it as lots of mini interviews! You will be meeting prospective employers at the show, so to create a great first impression, dress to impress. It is also an idea to have some questions prepared, in order to find out more about the company.
Sell yourself… don't expect to be sold to
Start conversations with expressions such as 'I'm interested in…' or 'I know about your company, and would like to find out more about…' rather than 'Who are you and what do you do…' or 'What can you offer me…'.
Be prepared
Take along an up-to-date CV. It gives you the opportunity to hand it out to prospective employers. That way you come across as well organised and ready for anything. Don’t worry if you do not have a current CV as experts will be on hand in the CV Clinic to help you get started.
Make the most of your time
Use your time wisely - take advantage of the free features including the seminars and clinics. You never know, you might just secure that dream job!
Do some ground work
Do your research before attending an event. This might sound boring, but it will be to your advantage. Check out "Who's Exhibiting?" to find out which companies are exhibiting at the event and what jobs, advice or training they have available.
Ask the right questions
To ensure you look interested and knowledgeable ask relevant questions such as:
- What graduate positions are available?
- What is the starting salary and do you offer any other benefits?
- Where are you located?
- What support or training will I receive?
- What degree discipline do you require?
